Yearly addiction rates are increasing at an alarming rate, while average age of
first time use has decreased to age 12. This is a problem that can no longer be ignored. It is no longer a nuisance that society
can turn a blind eye to. The cost of addiction to the general public is phenomenal in crime, healthcare cost, welfare services
and child protective service involvement.
For every $100,000.00 spent on recovery, $457,000.00 is saved in healthcare and crime cost alone.
We, the community, and the nation as a whole, need to pull together in the support of
substance abuse education. The fight against drugs is not a battle we cfan afford to lose. To safeguard future generations,
we must treat today's problems of addiction. TYLA, Inc. is seeking assistance from all who believe in our cause to fulfill
our misstion of "homeless helping men and women sustain a lifestyle of recovery
from homelessness and addiction."
Here are just a few of T.Y.L.A.’s
astonishing accomplishments:
- Over
1200 outfits were provided for men and women in recovery over the past year. (additionally new underwear, socks and hygiene
were given)
- Over 300 support line calls were taken over the past year and, T.Y.L.A. had 800 walk-in clients that requested
our services.
- More than 1500 participants in the T.Y.L.A. meetings and groups.
- Mentoring and Sober Living House
